When I was contemplating a move across the country to the east I wanted to take my friends with me. I asked them to give me ten words to take. I wanted to choose a word each day to write a poem. If you would like to send your ten favorite words. I can continue my poetry venture.
CONNIE J.
1.Gazebo
Plethora
I have a plethora of feelings.
And yes it gets into my blood.
In elections all parties get hateful.
All candidates spreading the word.
I wish that our country was special
The residents in it all good;
The president honest and truthful;
And living the life that we should.
Spatula
Spatulas don’t fit in the dishwasher-- comfortably.
Five people don’t fit on the pews.
Sometimes I feel like the odd man out.
How about you?
4. Bouffant
5.Blubber
6.Eskimo
Bus stop
She called me today
At 7:40 am.
She who by choice sleeps till noon.
Perky, happy, singing,
On her way to an adventure.
The morning sun shines on her honey hair.
The birds singing their morning calls to each other.
The groggy college students waiting for an adventure
At the bus stop.
8.Travel
Arm Chair
I’m taking my arm chair with me
When I go.
I’ve had it almost
As long as the house.
And I know—
Years of memories,
Cat hair,
Dust,
And maybe a few coins
Will go with me.

11. Fly
Fly
A fly
sits on my wall
Smiling
As flies do-
Watching.
I wonder
Who watches you,
Smiling!
12. Ring
I wished for rings for Christmas
I now have rings galore.
I have so many, many rings
That I don’t want no more!
There’s rings around the kitchen sink.
And in the toilets too.
And then there’s those beneath my eyes.
I don’t know what to do!
There’s rings upon the furniture
And on the kitchen floor.
This year I’ll ask for chocolate.
Who’s going to the store?

36. Clouds
Clouds gathering near the mountain
Winds hustling through the trees
Give me the heebie jeebies
Makes me aware of knees
Crawl underneath the covers
Put pillows on your head
Shake and shiver in the darkness.
Wait for the sun instead or—
RACE, WHIPPING through the kitchen
SAIL over couch and chair
When cats get heebie jeebies
They just get OUT OF THERE!
37.Seascape
Clouds forming o’er the mountains,
Wind whistling through the trees;
Snow dusting on the landscape—
Know what I think of these?
I could be warm and tanning
Beneath the coconut palm.
On sand the surf is frothing--
Mind’s seascape keeps me calm.

Uppity she was.
That’s all I can say.
Uppity this morning—
Uppity all day.
Don’t understand her.
Why is she this way?
I ‘m trying to be nice.
To her I am kind.
And when she feels scratchy
I try not to mind!
Can’t understand it
A heart I can’t find.
So now it is evening.
Worn out we are—yet,
A little bit more sleep
I don’t think I’ll get.
Wait! Ryah is sleeping!
An hour I bet.
48.Irresponsibility
49.Pleasure
Friends are a pleasure
I hate to see go.
Soon I’ll be living by no one I know.
I never am bored
But boring can be.
At 50? I’m too old
To reinvent me.
Bloom where you’re planted
My dearest friends say,
I feel like my seed pods
Have all blown away.
“No one can ever
Replace you,” I’ve heard.
I personally think that
This thought is absurd
So off I will fly
Though my roots will be shallow
Maybe it’s time for
This field to lie fallow.

So I’ll just let the words run out
The only way I know.

It’s cold today
In this house of mine.
The sky is grey,
Not blue.
I just cannot
Make up my mind.
There is too much
To do.
I should clean out
The freezer doors—
But it’s too cold
I think.
Or maybe do the
Dishes which
Sit in the kitch-
In sink.
I must go to
The grocery store
And bake a birth-
Day cake
And do the laun-
Dry on the stairs
All for the fam-
Ily’s sake.
But I would like
To climb in bed
Where it is warm
And snug
And I can pull
theCovers o’re
My head and read
With Pug.

I just can’t let them go.
If I did I just wouldn’t be me.
I can’t do it.
So I’ll boss them and whine.
Because they still are mine
And I’ll just hope that someday they’ll see
They can’t do it.

He was
always caring
As he guided me
His
cheerful, gentle footsteps
Led the way.
Loving me
Forgiving
me
When I was
unkind
Never as an

Was I left
behind.
Now he
waits again for me
On some
mysterious plain
But I have
other plans
I must pursue.

You always
planned for me,

come searching
Just for
you.

I see the cobwebs, tiny spiders
Painted.

From God we've each one.
Finding out what they are,
Is what makes life such fun.

While the duck played tic-tac toe.
Only a doof,
Would stick his nose into this situation
“Blargh”! Exclaimed the blonde’s mom.
“I suffer from purple capitulation!”
A purple conch,
A doofy duck.
An empty doctor pepper
Make college men
Play Tic-tac toe
With sister’s little heifer.
But I say Blargh!
And Hold your nose
We’ll take the old man’s Zephyr.
You win!
You nut!
You Lucky Duck!
You’ve beaten me with words.
“So blarge!” I say.
“I’ve made your day.”
Frustrations in me surge.
With purple nose
And doofy toes—
I will capitulate.
Tic-tacs
Nor Dr. Pepper
Can alter my sad state.
Throw in the conch
Dance on your head
And go out on a date.
